Fatal Crash at Sovereign Vintage Racing Event at Pacific Raceways in Kent

On a holiday weekend at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, a fatal accident occurred during a private event hosted by Sovereign Vintage Racing, a Lake Bay-based club focused on vintage car racing. According to Puget Sound Fire, the crash involved three vehicles and took place near the 144th Avenue Southeast. Accounts from a fan at the scene indicate that a driver experienced a mechanical failure and stopped on a remote section of the track, remaining in the vehicle as per protocol. Several laps later, two racing drivers collided with the stationary car while competing for position. It remains unclear which driver was killed, but authorities confirmed one adult male died, and other injuries were reported. The King County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, and the medical examiner’s truck was seen entering the racetrack about an hour before this report. Races scheduled for the remainder of the day were canceled, and most fans did not know about the fatality until informed by news crews. The Sovereign Vintage Racing Club has been contacted for comment but has not yet responded.
